Getting Bigger?

February 27, 2010

I made an interesting discovery when cleaning up Sophie’s toys…

A side-by-side comparison:

Apparently the United States obesity epidemic is also hitting toddler toys!

I had no idea they changed the little people. I like the old ones better, not just because of the size, but because they leave so much more to the imagination.

I know, isn’t it crazy?! Great point about the imagination factor too. I hadn’t thought of that before.

Oh my gosh, what a blast from the past seeing those little people! it’s interesting because the little people now aren’t only bigger, but have so much detail. Like Shary said above, it does take away some of the imagination.

Completely agree. But you know what’s interesting, we have both and Sophie prefers the older version of the Little People.

Wow, I don’t know what to say about this. Like Shary, I had no idea they changed the size of the little people and they DO take away some of the imagination. Makes me wonder who they have on their advising team when they create or recreate products.

Seriously! I wonder what made them decide to change the look and structure so much. It’s as if kids can’t think for themselves anymore.

Leah, the side by side comparison is so cute! Although I have to say the kid in me likes the chubbier version! 🙂

That’s funny. Maybe it’s trying to make kids seem less conscious about outward appearance.
