Magical Candy Cane Kiss Cookies
I am sharing with you a recipe I found years ago at an office cookie exchange — Magical Candy Cane Kiss Cookies. I’ve made them again this year, but for a virtual cookie exchange. These cookies are delicious, easy and really special for the holidays. Mainly because the main ingredient – the Hershey candy cane kiss – is only available during the holiday months. Happy Baking!
Magical Candy Cane Kiss Cookies
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder
Candy Cane kisses (unwrapped)
Powdered sugar
Heat oven to 350-degrees. Enlist a helper to unwrap the candy cane kisses.
Beat butter, sugar and vanilla until creamy.
Stir flour and coca together; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until blended. Mold about a teaspoon of dough around each kiss, covering completely. Shape into balls and place on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake 8 – 10 minutes or until set. Cool completely; then sprinkle powdered sugar over the tops. Super easy and super delicious!
Sophie was my assistant. She insisted the kisses all be lined up and facing upright.
The dough — it’s almost like a chocolate shortbread.
Roll the dough …
Place the kiss inside …
Here’s how they look baked ….
And here they are covered in powdered sugar!
YUM!
These are pretty and they’re creative! Thanks for the idea!
You’re welcome. Let me know if you try them.
Wow, do these look decadent. I love the ones with peanut butter kisses.
Oh I never thought to use peanut butter kisses! Yum!
Pretty and festive! And what a cute helper you have 🙂 MJ
Thanks, MJ. She really came in handy when we had to unwrap all those kisses.
Thanks so much for sharing the recipe and the fun pictures of Sophie, she’s quite the little chef. Those look like some mighty tasty cookies. I may give these a try. 🙂
Thanks, and let me know if you try them. You can use any of the holiday kisses.
I have to give these a try — they just look so yummy! Thanks for sharing Leah!
You’re welcome, Lena. Are you baking anything this season?
Ooh…those look so good! I must try them.
They are quite tasty! They’d be good with any of the kisses.
Now that’s what I call both a cookie and magical! OMG, this post was not a good thing for me to read and see when it’s past 1am and I can do nothing to satiate this craving for a candy kiss cookie! Argh! No worries, though. I have already bookmarked your page and will print out the recipe tomorrow! Sadly, I’ll have to substitute the candy cane kisses for regular kisses since we can’t get those here. But I’m sure they’ll still be delicious! 🙂
Oh I’m sure regular kisses will be just as tasty!
These are GREAT! I bet they were amazing and you have quite the kitchen helper! Believe it or not – I’m a chocolate chip girl! There is this one cookie that I love at Christmas, tho. It looks and smells like Christmas and is so pretty! It’s a cherry walnut cookie. I hope to make it (and blog it) this year!
Ann, you must blog that cookie! It sounds delicious!
Leah, these look amazing ! How much fun did you and Sophie had making them?
She really had fun eating the kisses as she unwrapped.
OMG, you have to be kidding me. Those look incredible! Around this time of year I buy different types of Hersey Kisses and those round holiday pretzels. You put a kiss in each pretzel and put in oven for 5 min at 220 or something low like that. Can’t remember and I’m too lazy to find the recipe! You put an M&M in the middle when it comes out of the oven and let cool down. Done! Delish!
Nina, that sounds really good! I have to try that one.
I’ve never bought these kind of Kisses, but you’ve inspired me. I think I’ll try baking them this weekend. Thanks!
Did you try them? You’d like these kisses too.
I LOVE candy cane kisses!!! And, putting them inside a chocolate cookie? genius! So glad you linked up…can’t wait to make them!
Thanks for “hosting,” Mel! The recipes on your site are so great.
Yum! And what a great pictorial! 😉
Thanks, Renee!
Wow, incredible!! I’ve been so lucky to get such great recipes from you!! This one looks amazing and so fun to make! (p.s. Sophie’s looking so grown up!!)
Thanks, Julia. I know, she does seem to get bigger every day.
Oh yah! Hidden surprise! Love those kisses, looks so yummy!! (:
Thanks. And thanks for stopping by.
ps: you’re a no-reply blogger! You can google it and it’s a quick fix. Then people can write you back directly when you leave a comment on their blog 😉
Can I do that even if I’m on WordPress? I’ll check it out.
You must have been thinking about me, because I just bought a bunch of these Kisses!! Can’t wait to try them 🙂
Yes, must have thought of you! Let me know if you try them.
I absolutely must try these! Yummy!! I would love for you to link these to my Christmas Cookie Countdown
I’m so glad you found me. I just linked up to you!
They look delicious! These would probably be really good with the Hershey’s Dark Chocolate Mint Truffle kisses, too — maybe add a little espresso to the dough for an “adult” cookie …
You know, I’ve been wanting to try these with a mint truffle kiss too. Might have to make another batch.
These look absolutely wonderful Leah, and as usual the pictures of Sophie are priceless! I feel like we should be getting together for coffee and a visit, we’ve become like regular friends and it’s the time of year for visiting, plus it just ‘feels right!’ As this won’t be possible unfortunately, like the cards my Mum used to send me, I am sending you and your family love ‘across the miles.’ Hugs, Elizabeth.
I am on my way to the store so we can try these tonight!
