Starting My Blog

December 21, 2009

So here I am. Starting my blog.

I have been thinking about venturing into this domain for months now, having been inspired by my fellow blogger friends. As well as a way to get back into the world of writing, where I always feel my true roots lie.

But what would be the theme? Should there be a theme? Should it be general musings about various topics. Recipes. Tips for dealing with toddlers, dogs, husbands. A journal into my life. So many options…

In many ways, I am a perfectionist. And I only like to begin projects I can finish, or at least I can maintain with a clear focus. I also tend to lean toward a black/white, either/or personality. I think this is why I hesitated to start this blog. I have pages of ideas. But what if I couldn’t write more than three sentences? What if I couldn’t post regularly? Do I have to choose between journaling about my life or writing generic essays? All these options overwhelmed me. Hence I could not bring myself to starting this blog.

But then I realized that this is MY domain and I can post as much or as little as I want. Hey, I can combine journaling with life stories. Recipes or photos. The possibilities are endless. I know, this seems like a “no duh” statement. But to me and my personality, it was a stretch and took me a while to get there. And finally when I realized that, I sat down to start writing. And look that is — more than three lines!

So let’s start today. Let’s see where this blog leads me … and leads you.

Your blog idea reminds me of my friend Jessica’s. I don’t even have kids and I like reading about her adventures.

And my friend talks about this one a lot: (this one is really extensive – no pressure).
