The Little Italy Farmers’ Market

August 14, 2012

I love Farmers’ Markets. The fresh produce, pretty flowers and unique handmade crafts just make me happy. And of course, photographing a Farmers’ Market is one of my favorite things to do because all around you is color and life. We recently spent a Saturday browsing, buying, photographing and eating at one of the largest San Diego markets — the Little Italy Farmers’ Mercato. This market is especially amazing because many of the Little Italy community restaurants sell their fresh pasta, Italian pastries, garlic spreads and olive oils. Take a look at our very lovely day.

Aren’t these flower holders so cute? They are made completely from recycled milk cartons and water bottles.

I couldn’t resist buying this pretty one.

Here’s me and Sophie with the amazing Amy Finley, author of How to Eat a Small Country and season 3 winner of The Next Food Network Star.

I agree. I enjoy spending time in places like that. There’s a special sense of hope and cheerfulness being around all the homegrown foods and crafts. And the people seem nicer than folks in a commercialized store.:)

I love the grape and flower pictures~ so colorful! Farmer’s markets are my favorite places to go too! Every Saturday my aunt and I would go buy fresh oranges. I haven’t gone in a while, but looking at your pictures reminded me of the nice memories I had going with her 🙂 I think I will go tomorrow! Have a nice weekend!

Nothing offers more colors to photograph than fresh food, and so beautifully done, Leah! Sophie is growing too fast. Make her slow down!
