The Seven Links Challenge
I was recently recruited to participate in the Seven Links Challenge by the writers of Coming East and Grrl Guide. (Two fantastic blogs, by the way.) The idea behind the Seven Links Challenge is to publish seven links back to my own blog posts within the categories below.
I like the idea of the Seven Links Challenge because it allowed me to go back and re-read my entire blog to find the seven posts. And I like that I can highlight older posts that many of you readers have not seen. The Seven Links Challenge certainly had its moments, mainly because it was so tough deciding which post to include in the categories. I may have cheated a bit and listed more than one blog post for a few categories.
1. Most Beautiful Post: This one’s a toss-up between The Great Pumpkin Patch and Deck the Halls.
2. Most Popular Post: Would have to be Chanukah Latkes – Yum Yum Yum. This post was Freshly Pressed and got the highest number of hits of all my posts.
3. Most Controversial: I don’t have a post that received any negative comments. Therefore I’ll share with you the two posts I expected to receive hate mail after they were published: Why I’m Anti Antibacterial Gel and The Elf on the Shelf Scares Me. My feelings have not changed on either of these subjects.
4. Most Helpful: I received so many positive comments, e-mails and notes about My “A Ha” Moments. This one really resonated with readers.
5. Most Surprisingly Successful: I am surprised at how many hits Make Your Own Pizza – It’s Easy still receives. Apparently many people want to make homemade pizza dough. I made this for dinner last night, by the way.
6. Post That Didn’t Get the Attention It Deserved: I really thought Getting Bigger? – which visually illustrates how the childhood obesity epidemic is affecting toys — was pretty good!
7. Post I Am Most Proud Of: Stopping to Smell the Pine Needles – This one still touches my heart when I read it.
How many of YOU are ready to take the Seven Links Challenge?
If you feel so inclined to read these older posts, I’d love to get your feedback. Do these accurately represent the categories? Or do I have other posts that would fit better?
Nice- not sure I’m ready for it! Nudge me in a few months.
Deal!
I have missed so many of these older posts — so I’m very glad you participated in the links challenge! I will definitely be reading and commenting throughout the week! Thanks Leah! (and love latkes and really need that pizza dough recipe so double thanks!)
I’m glad you found the older posts. It was fun re-reading them too.
I loved reading posts that I missed before I was introduced to your blog. I’m so glad you shared them again.
Thanks, Shary. I appreciate you took the time to read them.
I LOVE this idea, Leah, and will be going back to check out the posts I missed. Thank you so much for sharing such wonderful insight!
You’re welcome, Melissa. And thanks for reading.
It was nice checking out your posts again or for the first time. I think I found your blog through the latkes post on Freshly Pressed — I can’t wait for latkes time to come again!
Yes, we did find each other through Freshly Pressed. Honestly that’s the best part of that feature — meeting amazing bloggers. Look how long we’ve been reading each other’s works.
Love the 7 links challenge that gives us an opportunity to read some missed posts. If anyone else takes the challenge, let me know. Me, I only have one blog post so far so no challenge for me this time around.
Thanks, Susan. Your comments are always appreciated.
Wow, this is very interesting, insightful. I’m all for making homemade pizza. I used to make my own dough, knead it and everything. I remember most of the posts you mention but will check out those that I don’t. Like the pizza recipe. 🙂
You have been a loyal reader for some time now. I don’t think any of those posts were new to you.
I enjoyed visiting your past post. I read ever post and made few comments.
I did a 7 post challenge once upon a time. It’s fun to go back and re-visit old posts.
I think you picked out perfect posts for the categories. Well done! 🙂
Thanks, and thank you SO much for commenting on everything. That is truly nice of you. I’m in the process of responding to all the comments.
Leah, one of my favorites is the Great Pumpkin Patch! Amazing! I look forward to clicking on the posts I haven’t yet read!
Thanks, Bella. Clearly I can’t resist pumpkins, so had to share that again.
What a great idea, Leah! Thank you for sharing these links. I can’t wait to check them out–especially the one about elves. I don’t like ’em either! : )
Glad there’s a fellow elf-hater out there too. Well not hater. Thanks for reading!
Leah, first… really enjoyed my stroll around your blog today. Second, I plan to post this challenge as a part of my next post. And third, here’s my feedback on this post… a great one, by the way.
The Great Pumpkin Patch and Deck the Halls… great clear images… not to mention this is my favorite time of year. So Thanksgiving & Xmas photos makes it a plus… besides, I would be day and night trying to compare it to something else here. Beautiful photography.
Chanukah Latkes – Yum Yum Yum… can’t argue with 74 votes!
Why I’m Anti Antibacterial Gel and The Elf on the Shelf Scares Me…hardly offensive by my vote. Those children’s tale back in the day with those creepy pictures used to scare the crap out of me, and though I do use hand gels, I remember those days and know just what you’re talking about.
My “A Ha” Moments… you deserve a round of applause!!! Certainly have my vote there. (I was sitting at a conference table when they passed out ‘Who Moved My Cheese’. That was my A Ha Moment!) …and…Make Your Own Pizza – It’s Easy…another vote from me!
…and…Getting Bigger… man…this is getting better! I remember those little people. I used to buy them for my kids. Too funny. Are they really getting bigger? Now what’s mixing in their paste? And Stopping to Smell the Pine Needles was touching.
Thanks again. I really enjoyed this stroll.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read all the posts and leave feedback. I’m truly honored you did that.
Leah – thank you kindly for sharing grrlguide with your readers. I am flattered. Since I haven’t logged a year in blogging time, I still feel newish to the blogoshere. It’s been a thrill to meet other writers(you especially since we share the same music library). I like the idea of a blogger highlight their favorites because if a reader is newish to your site they can have a look around in the archives. I confess since having tried some your recent recipes before I sometimes come look for dinner ideas in past posts.
It seems like you’ve been blogging for a long time. And I’m so glad you enjoy my dinner ideas. I have them all listed out under the Cooking tab too. I appreciate your words!
Leah, even thou I am following you for a year now I’ve missed so many of your posts. I have to go back now. Chanukah Latkes – Yum Yum Yum was freshly pressed, this how I found you and the rest is history……
Yes, I remember the day we “met” through Freshly Pressed. You shared that wonderful story about the Jewish Santa. It’s still one of my favorites. I’ve loved getting to know you over the last year.
Great 7 Links…I look forward to reading them…starting with stop and smell the pine needles!
Thanks, Ann. I always appreciate your words.
I sure wish I’d read ‘Stopping to Smell the Pile Needles’ when I was a young mum. Hopefully I’ll do more of it with my Grandchildren!
I also love your post for the spinach mushroom lasagna. I love them all but these two are two of my bestest best!
Thanks, Elizabeth. The pine needles one is a favorite and special to me. Glad you enjoyed it too.
