Today is my running anniversary. Nine years ago, I ventured outside in my new hometown and I ran. It was likely less than a mile, and I walked more than I ran. But I ran. And I didn’t stop … I haven’t stopped.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again … I truly believe that running has saved my life. If for no other reason, then it showed me that I have physical and mental strength and courage I didn’t think I possessed. And only with that strength was I able to change my life.
There’s no way I could have ever predicted I’d be where I am today with running or life. Not every step has been pleasant. I’ve had my share of frustration and quite a bit of pain (physical and mental). But I wouldn’t trade a mile or a moment of it for anything.
