Back in the throes of summer 2020, Sophie and I were desperate for some normalcy. And after spending three months with me, Sophie REALLY wanted to be around other kids. Luckily Camp Navigate was open during the pandemic … and that camp saved both me and Sophie that summer. Later that year, I took a part-time job with Camp Navigate and I’ve loved seeing all the good it does for families in the Wabash Valley.
I believe strongly in the timing of life. … Just like Camp Navigate found Sophie and I when we needed it, I felt it’s time for me to move forward with other work and opportunities.
I have been blessed to work with Eleanor Ramseier (founder and executive director) and the entire Camp Navigate team, including the awesome mentors and board members. I think all of us involved believe the work is much more than a job. This experience has given me so much, including the opportunity to coach the kids running program last summer where I learned a lot about myself.
During my farewell lunch, Eleanor handed me this beautiful flower arrangement called the “Popsicle Award.” Each of the staff wrote words on popsicle sticks to describe me. This gift, and the thought behind it, is priceless. It sits in my office and symbolizes an experience and connections that meant more to me than I imagined.
