Eleven years ago, this note of advice to incoming San Diego State University freshmen was posted on the University’s Facebook page. It was written by my friend and former SDSU colleague, Greg Block, whom I had the pleasure of working with for many years. Over the years, and every fall, Greg’s words go viral as parents move their new freshmen into their college dorms.
Very few people who share it now even know where it originated. … In fact, I saw it shared by someone in Indiana last year and it made me smile so much knowing where those words came from. And I know next fall, when I see the post again, my smile will be covered with tears as Sophie and I will be starting our new chapters.
Sadly, Greg is no longer (physically) here to see his writing go viral every year. But knowing that piece of him and our alma matter lives on and touches so many lives is such a beautiful legacy. ❤️🖤
