Saturday morning scene.
My mind struggles with being “lazy.” I think a lot about the things I “should be” doing. This morning was no exception to that thinking.
This has been a WEEK … of craziness, busyness, work, appointments, overwhelm, deep feelings, confusion, friendship, anxiety, countless messages and phone calls (and I hate phone calls 😂), physical discomfort, happiness, pleasure, hopefulness, wonder, surrealism, movement, eating, exhaustion … like I said, it’s been a WEEK!
Saturday morning is typically a long running day for me. But yesterday, I started to feel myself slipping into overwhelm and exhaustion. And I knew I needed time to just BE.
So this morning – instead of running, grocery shopping, doing errands, laundry, catching up on work, household chores – I’m choosing to just BE. I’ve been waiting for the right time to dive into this rare find, Woodstock 3-album set. Today is the morning to get lost in the sounds that shaped so much of what moves me and what I love. I lit a candle, made coffee in my French Press, grabbed my books and blanket, and parked myself on the couch, still in my pajamas and glasses. The sliding glass door is open to the sunlight and my dogs and cat keep moving in and out of the house.
As I write this, I’m listening to Jimi Hendrix bleeding out “The Star Spangled Banner.” My mind is still struggling with feeling the need to move and be busy. But I’m challenging it to join my body, and just BE.
