Last fall, the CANDLES Holocaust Museum here in Terre Haute held a virtual running challenge to celebrate the museum’s 30th anniversary. The running challenge was offered as an opportunity for people go outside and run or walk 30 miles in celebration of CANDLES’ 30th anniversary. CANDLES is the only Holocaust museum in Indiana.
For those unfamiliar or live outside of Terre Haute, CANDLES was founded by Eva Kor, a survivor of the Auschwitz concentration camp. She and her twin sister were survivors of the Josef Menghele twin experiments. Eva was an incredibly strong woman who educated about the Holocaust and preached forgiveness until the day she died.
