Candy Land, Cookies and Crafts

Here’s a look at a few of the activities we’ve done during the first half of our two-week winter break vacation at home. We played Candy Land quite a few times. Yes, I have the very old-school Candy Land version and I love it.

We made sugar cookies and and cut them into stars, trees and snowman with cookie cutters. I’m pretty sure Sophie ate more dough than she cut cookies.

Sophie was in charge of decorating the cookies.

We also got creative with a craft I found on this blog. Basically you decorate a tree using cut-outs from old holiday cards and stickers. Sophie LOVED this craft! She is still admiring her decorated tree.

Meg at Whatever had the kids hand-paint the tree with green paint. Check it out — it’s really cool. But I was not brave enough to attempt that with Sophie. So I cut out a tree using green scrapbook paper (nice that the scrapbook materials are being used).

So that’s a bit of what we’ve been up to lately. Now I need to think of more activities for the coming week. Ideas, anyone?
