Four years of high school choir came to a close yesterday with Sophie’s final choir concert. She was awarded the Rector Cantorum Award, which is “awarded to a senior who, with success and dedication, did complete four full years of high school choir at an honor level.”
Sophie joined the Chamber honors choir during her freshman year. Singing is her passion, the place she feels at home and where she is her most authentic self. These last four years in choir have not only helped hone her craft, but gave her a community and a place to belong. Because while singing can be a solo endeavor, choir requires teamwork and camaraderie among people with shared skills and passions. Sophie learned that her voice could not just be a vessel for song, but also a conduit for leadership.
And she couldn’t have done any of this without the teachers, voice coaches and accompanists who’ve helped her grow and learn along the way. … Bravo to four incredible years! ❤️🖤
