“Impermanence”
Sands on the shore
Leaves on the trees
Snow on the ground
Birds singing in spring
Bugs screeching in summer
Rain pelting the roof tops
Train whistles blowing through the night
Tears that fall from my eyes
Sorrow that warps my mind
Laughter that echoes from my soul
Hurt that stings like a thousand cuts
Joy that fills my heart
Yesterday is not today
An unpredictable tomorrow
It comes
It goes
It stays for a minute, a day, an hour
The beauty in those moments
The recognition of being grateful to feel at all
To have fleeting joy
And momentary sorrow
Nothing is permanent
And everything is temporary.
