Indiana: Six Years Ago Today

When I pulled my black Honda CRV with busted air conditioning into the driveway of a house I’d never set foot in before, I didn’t know a soul in Terre Haute, or even Indiana for that matter. I didn’t know where the closest grocery store was located and the warmest thing I owned was a sweatshirt.

I firmly believe that where you live — Terre Haute especially — is what you make of it (much like life itself). Is Terre Haute and Indiana right for everyone? No. But it’s right for me. And I know that I can make more of difference in my community and the lives of others being here than I ever could in San Diego.

But more importantly, my adopted hometown gave me the space to make a difference in MY life. And it allowed me to find myself and live a life of truth and depth in a way I never did before.

At this time six years ago, I had no idea the souls I’d find, the friends I’d make, how my life would change or who I would be today. But I believe everything unfolded (is still unfolding) exactly how it was meant to be.
