Doesn’t everyone want to run a marathon on their birthday weekend along with 18,000 other runners?!
Today I finished the Monumental Marathon, 26.2 miles around downtown Indianapolis. I wasn’t sure how the day would go given the forecast was “warm” (for November in Indiana) and the morning started with rain. But my friend, Majel, and I were prepared with our trash bag ponchos (thank you, Majel). And the 25 mph winds, especially during my last five miles, were brutal! But I finished my first major road marathon race (which is completely different from ultramarathon trail races). The spectators along the route really made the day special, and hearing people shout my name (from my bib) made me smile and keep moving.
