Today I went in search of my third grade class picture and ended up finding my Hello Kitty childhood diary. The diary spanned 1983 to 1987 (ages 8-12) and it contains quite a bit of musings about crushes, angst over boys, sister love and arguments, how much I disliked school (math specifically), and milestone moments such as my first middle school locker combination and when I saw “Back to the Future.” Interestingly, some of those topics appear in the perpetual journal I’ve been keeping for the last five years (minus the locker combination).
As I flipped through the diary, I found a few entries Sophie wrote when she was in first grade. Apparently we share a common disdain for math and poor spelling ability.
