I’ve lived in Indiana nine years and spent the first four of those living in the house I moved into when I arrived in Terre Haute with my then husband. … I moved into this house in March 2020, one week after the start of quarantine. That means this has been my home for nearly six years.
It really hit me that I’ve spent more years than not, the majority of my Indiana life, in the house I bought for myself.
I’ve had many highs and a lot of lows in this house. I’ve run thousands of miles from my front door and sat for many hours reading on my porch and back deck. The full moon shines into my bedroom windows and the living room couch faces the street where I watch the snow fall on days like today. I’ve put a lot of work and care into it over the years (and of course, there’s still so much more to do).
But, more than anything, I love that I’ve been able to make it a home for me and Sophie.
