I have a new role at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College as the assistant coach for men’s and women’s cross country. When I was hired for this job, I said I would love to take this on, but I hope I’m not expected to run with the students … because they’ll leave me in the dust. In all seriousness, I may not have their speed … but I love working with college students and helping them find the best in themselves, whether it’s in writing or running.
The other night, I attended my first meet with the teams as they competed in the Nike XC Town Twilight college races at Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course here in Terre Haute. What an evening! … I’m really enjoying getting to know these young men and women who put so much of themselves into an activity we mutually love.
