“The days are long but the years are short.” — Gretchen Rubin
Sophie graduated high school yesterday. While I won’t say it feels like yesterday she came home from the hospital (because that feels VERY long ago!), I will say it doesn’t feel like 19 years of my life have already gone by. There were days that dragged on so long I never thought they would end. And yet, it’s hard to believe she’s been a constant by my side for nearly two decades. I truly don’t know where all that time went.
Sometimes I look at her and see my little pal who accompanied me to all the San Diego parks and hangouts I wrote about online (and whose photo accompanied all the stories); or as the 8-year-old who moved with me to Indiana. And other times all I see is this beautiful and courageous young woman who is ready to take her next chapter (and New York City) by storm.
Sophie, raising you has been a gift I never could have imagined for myself. I am beyond proud of you! And even on our longest days, I love being your mommy. ❤️
