With Labor Day Weekend upon us and Sophie starting kindergarten on Tuesday, in my mind, summer is officially over. It seems like just yesterday we were creating our Summer List and embarking on a relaxing vacation.
While both Sophie and I are ready for a change of pace, we really had a great summer. It was relaxing, creative, fun, and was the first time Sophie and I were home together for huge chunks of time. While we certainly had our moments, it really was a special time for us both.
So how did we do on the Summer List? We completed all but one item! Here’s a glimpse of some of our summer fun.
Sophie went to Animal Adventure camp at our local Humane Society …
We went to the San Diego Zoo and had our first nighttime zoo experience …
We made chalk paint and created art on the sidewalk …
Sophie had her first lemonade stand that she created entirely herself (and earned $3.50) …
We completed the local library’s summer reading program …
We saw dinosaurs at the museum …
Sophie had two months of swimming lessons, which led to this …
We got patriotic on the 4th of July …
We went to the county fair …
And of course, summer isn’t complete without a day at the beach.
All this fun — coupled with lazy days at home, trips to the park, dog walking, kite flying, fort building, popsicle making, and other summer fun — I’d say we had a great summer!
I hope you all have a great last few days of summer and a relaxing Labor Day Weekend!
