Sophie was due to arrive on November 7. On November 8, the doctors induced me in the hopes she would make her appearance … 24 hours later, she was born, on November 9. From the day Sophie entered this world, she has been her own person. And I could not be more proud of her for that.
Today, Sophie turns 16 years old and I am in awe of the strong, talented, brave, intelligent and beautiful person she has become. She will spend her birthday evening on the stage, singing in her high school’s musical production of “Mean Girls.” I can’t think of a more quintessential Sophie way to usher in this milestone.
Happy Sweet Sixteen, Sophie. I love you, and I’m so proud to be your mom. ❤️
