This print is called the “Someday Cottage.” I bought it years ago, mainly because the name spoke to me. I like to think about it as a physical place where all the currently unobtainable hopes/dreams/ideas are living.
My personality is such that I tend to get very focused on the here and now. That can be difficult and depressing at times if things are not the way I want them or think they should be.
I had an epiphany the other day: that all I have in front of me is time; and that perhaps instead of focusing so intently on the here and now, I should allow whatever will happen to happen going forward. After all, if I think about where I was one, two or three years ago – hell, even six months ago – I could never have predicted everything that’s happened since then.
This realization was freeing to me. Maybe it’s a different form of living in the moment. Or taking the current moments for what they are and letting the rest unfold as it may. The “Someday Cottage” will still be standing and its contents aren’t going anywhere. It’s just a matter of moving through the space of time and life, and seeing what all transpires on the journey.
