When My Ultramarathon — and Marriage — Didn’t Go as Expected

The Indiana Trail 100K race was not the first time a life goal did not finish the way I intended. Four months before the ultramarathon, I had a conversation with my husband. It was the scariest and most difficult conversation we ever had in our 18 years of marriage. It was that conversation that I told him I wanted a divorce.
