I got into bed last night ready to crash into a (hopefully) deep slumber. All I wanted to do was sleep the day away and wake up in the morning with a glimmer of light.
As many of you know, I’ve been writing my story about moving to the Midwest, at midlife, and (re)finding myself though running. I started thinking about ultra running and the tribe of people who inspired me; inspired me to find something that was buried deep within me. And then I had a sudden urge to write. This was always a planned chapter of my story, to write about this group and what that ultra mentality did for me. But forces beyond my control brought so many words to the surface last night.
I sat in my bed and wrote into my iPhone Notes. Words and words and words tumbled out of my mind. I wrote for almost an hour. I wasn’t planning to write all that I did, but it’s part of my story that needs to be told, I guess.
I woke up this morning to my alarm and darkness. The autumn and soon-to-be winter mornings are so dark. But then the light came. It’s overcast this morning, but the sun is trying so hard to show its light. It’s there … it’s always there, even when it doesn’t feel like it has the strength to shine.
